If Bristol camera's are doing it for £900 then it makes it cheaper than the 35mm f/1.4 doesnt it?
That seems reasonable then. way out of my price range but if you think the 35mm f/2.0 is just under £200 and loads of people think the f/1.4 is like gods eyeball and worth the expta then i think the price of the 50mm f/1.2L is in line with the others.
Just MHO of course and no, i would not pay that much for a lens that didnt sing at least one tune and dance at the same time ;-)a

I want it so bad, but I think I will have to wait until febuary or so, unless I sell the 24-70 which I am very tempted to do. I love the 2470, but I would love that 50 more I think:)

I am curious why you want it so bad. f/1.2 is not that much faster than f/1.4. And it is fairly soft at f/1.2 anyway. So would you share with us what kind of application you have in mind?

I, personally do not want / cannot afford one. But, everyone is concentrating on the (ever so slighly) larger aperture. When people compare the 35L to the regular 35, it's not the wider aperture that draws them, it's the colour and contrast it achieves. I was a cynic about such things, but look at some of the shots people like schmoelzel and Dante get out of their L primes. I love my 85mm f/1.8, but can see that the 85L does improve on IQ and contrast / colour (aka POP).

Indoor portraits! I had the 50 1.4 and loved the length, but after using the 35 1.4 I just didn't like the 50. It really lacks in the contrast department and when compared to the 35 or the 135 I found it very dissapointing to use build wise as well.
