I know the 24-105L IS F4 is a really great lens but do you ever think they will come out with a 2.8 IS version like they did with the 70-200?

sugarzebra Cream of the Crop More info | Oct 05, 2006 00:49 | #2 It would be nice but I believe the size, weight & cost would be prohibitive. The present 24-105 is a great lens and personaly I would find making it about 8mm wider would be a much more desirable change than one stop faster. Scott

They could probably make it a variable aperture, 24-105 f/2.8-4, like the original 28-70L but that seems to be a negative characteristic for most people.
