I hear that they are going to be offering rebates on Lenses starting on The 15th but I'm not very familiar with how they work. Can you fill out rebate forms online? What about if you buy your lenses online, does it make any more difficult? Is the process itself hard? I am pretty lazy when it comes to these types of things but if it's going to save me some $$$ then I will definately do it.

Rebates work with online purchases as well as B&M. You can't actually submit the rebates online, but you can, I can't remember the exact term, but you pre-submit the forms and information online before mailing the actual documents. Many people have complained about lengthy waits, but I got my rebates for the 70-300 and the 50 in a matter of a few weeks.

Companies count on people being too lazy to submit the rebate documents. That's part of the reason they do rebates instead of straight price reductions. I always submit the info as soon as I'm certain that I will not return the product for refund.

Make sure that you have copies of everything that you send. It took me 4 times to send in the form with the upc code and everything else to get my rebate for my 20D. I had bought two lens with it, and that rebate was paid in about a month. But they kept losing my 20D documentation.

Basically, this is how it works. If you buy any of the items with rebates, then the rebate will double if you buy two. For example, if you buy a 30D, you get a $100 rebate. ILet's say for example, if you buy another lens like a 24-70 with a $50 rebate, then you double the rebate on the two items, so you get $200 for the 30D and a $100 for the lens for a total rebate of $300.

Are you serious? So you mean to tell me that if I buy the 24-105 with say, the 50mm 1.4 that the rebate will double on those as well? Sweet!!:) I'm assuming not all Canon items will qualify for a rebate.

From what I hear the 5D and the 30D but no XTi. Some items are only good for one rebate, not double rebate. I think the flash units and maybe even the bodies may only qualify for a single and not a double rebate, so check the fine prints.

Plus Canon's rebate service is horrendously bad. Make sure you pre qualify on the internet, keep copies of everything you are asked to send in, and call them when the allowed time runs out if you don't get your rebate. I've sent in everything as directed and only had 50% of the rebates show up without problems. Other times, I had to call them to remind me to send me my rebate.

I can't believe it. They are offering rebates on the two lenses that I want to get. I am definately waiting til October 15th.

You would have really loved last year's TRIPLE REBATES. Lots of folks went on spending sprees, including me.:):)

If you have any inkling at all about getting the 5D, time to step up to the plate. $600 off with double rebate. That's more than 20% off!! Obviously Canon will be upgrading this model come Feb/Mar.

I bought during Canon's Spring rebate. I bought everything online. I could print out a Canon rebate form, which you have to mail in, along with UPC panels, copies of receipts and warranty cards.
You can pre-qualify your rebate online, which you basically type in all the info. This supposedly helps you get your check faster. You still have to mail everything in, before Canon will send you a check. But if you pre-qualify your rebate online. You get a submission number, so you can track your rebate status. Worth doing, IMO.
It's really easy, and Canon paid me pretty fast. Oh..and like someone mentioned...Keep copies of EVERYTHING!! I didn't do this one time with a Nikon rebate, and my submission got lost. In the end, Nikon came thru, but it took me nearly 5 months.
By all means, go for the rebates...they are worth a few minutes of your time.

Thanks for the List of Rebates...Now, to apply it to the wish list and than the shopping list...gotta pick two, to make the most of this promotional offer....

The details for buying two, are very important, so read them carefully...
