Walked around the river today and I think he was getting tired. :)

Probably that warm light against his face. It would make me sleepy too.

I like it. The DOF is nice and the subject is sharp. Though I wish there was more light illuminating those big eyes. Some fill flash perhaps?

Cheers,

Tom

Very nice. I tend to think that kids get bored of parents taking their pictures. Maybe to end the boredom, you might get him a cheap P&S and allow him to take pictures with you...and 'of' you. Maybe that may 'brighten up' his mood a little.

Cheers,
i.

Thank you everyone.

Actually he was using a Rebel XT with a 17-40 on it. He was getting bored and tired. Plus he was hobbling along with a cast on his right foot, broke ankle. :(
Yet he still wants to go out and find something to photograph. :)

As for me, the newb...flash was fired (430EX) but, at 214mm probably wasn't enough, especially with -1ev and -1fec

All in all, we had a good evening at the river.

I think the amount of fill flash you used is perfect for this shot. It's really nice but I would crop the sides off some.
