Hi. I am about to buy a long zoom lens.
My 2 choices are the Sigma 70-300 f/4-5.6 DG APO Macro and the Canon 70-300 IS USM.
The second one is more expensive. I don't have the money to spend more then the Canon wich is around 720$ can.
I will use it mostly for planes (Airliners) so 200mn is a little bit short.
Any advise would be realy appreciated.

Between the 2, I'd definately go with the Canon. Very good optics, and the IS will help you a lot at those longer focal lengths.

Are you located in the US? $720 is an awful lot to pay for the Canon lens. I think its about $550 at B&H. I do recommend it, though.

If you can swing it, I'd go for the Canon. I didn't want to spend too much money so it was the only IS lens in the running, and I really wanted IS. While a bit more than the Sigma, I personally feel the IS is worth it, not to mention the great optics for the price!!

Oh I should mention I picked mine up in the US, from B&H for 559 us, which with shipping was about $650 cnd. Locally it would have cost me $800 cnd, I could wait two days to save the 150!!

I got my 70-300 IS at the beginning of this year. I really surprised at the IQ of this lens! I was going to sell mine, but I'm glad I kept it. The IS comes in handy all the time.

moew!!!!!
