I'm interested too. I'd love a wide angle with that kinda speed.

The specifications of this lens are real appealing...I need a wide angle for a variety of reasons, including; landscapes/small panoramas, theater show venues, possibly indoor spaces...

While it's design is a bit clunky and the AF somewhat slow, Canon still has no answer for it. I can honestly say I don't think I'll ever sell my copy considering its speed and specs and very good IQ even to the borders. Petteri has a classic review of it here http://www.prime-junta.net …/a_Sigma_20_mm_f-1.8.html (external link)

I think optically, the 30mm f/1.4 is meant to have better IQ, but it's a DC (although it does have HSM). If you need the extra 10mm, though, it's no competitor.

Edit:having read that review, that lens has become my most wanted :D

The performans wide open is poor, once you stop down to f/2,2 thing get much better.

AF/MF arrangement on the Sigma sucks. DoF is surprisingly shallow at 1.8, despite it being a 20mm. Optically it's quite okay stopped down a bit, allthough the corners can be nasty below f/5.6... (This is on a 1D2):

Thanks for this information...The lens is still in processing and hasn't shipped yet...I'll be following up on this purchase...
If it isn't sharp at 1.8, than it does raise concern...

Thanks for this big posting of pictures...i see what you mean about the corners...This does raise a serious question...I'll be following up on this purchase and now have some concern...

However it is a real wide 94 degree angle, this could be the reason to buy it...

I like both pictures and the first one has great sharpness...

Thanks for the encouragments... The 30mm 1,4 arrives today and I plan to use it at a theater concert venue...This 20mm 1.8 lens will also serve the same purpose some of the time...
