just got mine today. I'm still in post traumatic (price) shock regarding the sharpness wide open and sheer size :)

Shot at f/1.4 today in the snow - and let me tell you, the original res is SHARP. Couldn't believe my eyes!

I know what you mean. Mine eyes had seen nothing of sharpness until I got my first prime, the 85L II.

Amazing control of DoF. :D Love how it is very apparent that the blur more than just 2 dimensionally "surrounds" her.

The reason I like it is it really captures the feel of the moment. The mono-chormatic feel the extreme back light of the subject and the slight motion in the subject all helps re-enforce the statement. You can almost feel the rain and the cold. It reminds me of a scene in the great Martin Scorsese film Taxi Driver. The same kind of color and feel.

@ Air and Alex..

both have good points..

air, why i like it.. is the colors, the danger of the perspective, the crazy heels on a snowy wet day, and the night time environment of it.. also the action.

i can understands alex's thoughts.. it is a person walking on a cross walk - big deal..

i am just trying new stuff..

thanks guys.. !

@ mccartney...

hey man post that snow throwing up in the air one.. i love that one !!

In that case. Any photography of things we see daily is useless to take a photo of.

Its a picture of some trees. Big deal. Its a picture of some birds. Big Deal. Its a picture of a building. Big Deal. It is a picture of a female in nice clothes in a room. Big Deal.

Sorry folks but there is much more to our fine art than commercial, planned out photography. Get off your high horses.

Rented the 85 1.2 lens to shoot a friends band over the weekend. Spectacular, so much fun to shoot with. Way out of my price range right now, but someday.... fortunately my wife got a chance to shoot with it for a bit too and she is as smitten as me.

And Stieglitz's The Steerage is just some folks on a boat. But seriously, I agree with what you say about about the image. I like that you get out of the comfort zone from time to time.

Hell yeah. Agree with you 100% AFM. There is nothing special about a photo anymore unless it is technically perfect or 100% unique.

 Agree and what is 100% unique? Nothing really. Its all pretty much been done. But don't let that be discouraging because you can take all of it in and put your own spin on it and the only technique that is important is the one that works for that particular image.

Thanks air and pham for understanding and explaining it to me. I do see the effect of the slight motion blur with the backlight and rain in high heels. Even though it's not clean or perfect or 'f/1.2 bokeh happy,' it's not mean to be, and it does capture a mood, so great job!
