thanks for the feedback...your wife photo seems to be focus...your dog however look soft...maybe you can shoot more and show a full version of the photo plus a zoom in 100% crop...that way its easier to judge...I'm pretty sure they are a lot of interesting stuff to shoot with this amazing lens...
Just as long as you keep in mind that what is in focus is not what you might think when the lens is working at the wider apertures. In the dog's eye, the reflection is sharp and a layer of hair that is the same distance from the lens as the surface of the eye--meaning hair close to the corner of the eye is out-of-focus--it's that shallow. Any other softness is more due to my shooting at 1/13s--bad, bad on me.
I'll try to do more today, but we are in dark, unnaturally cold weather for this part of Florida, meaning high ISO and poor contrast conditions. I could use flash, but you've seen the results of well-done flash in the thread you referenced. I, too, want to know how this lens performs in everyday conditions, not just in the studio.
