I'm sure the majority of people round here will tell you to use a card reader, myself included. Although this does not help your situation at the moment.

Have you tried using another usb port? this can sometimes 'force' the PC into re-installing the drivers (WIA?)

You have to install the latest EOS Utilities program, too, to go with your new ZoomBrowser.

since the OP's problem has been resolved, I hope it's ok if I jack this thread a bit, why does everyone suggest using a card reader? is it because it's faster? If I ever have a problem with a card going crazy it's when I switch it between a device and a card reader, so I just always download the pics thru my camera.

Card readers tend to be quicker than Camera USB links, particularly if you get firewire or USB 2, and I just find it easier to plug the card in to the reader than fumble about trying to plug that stupid little 'mini usb' plug into the side of the camera.
I've been doing this for about 2 years and had no problems at all with about 4 cameras I've used.

Hey all^_^ I've got the (almost) same problem using firmware v. 1.0.3 and ZoomBrowser 5.8.0.74.
Browsing files on my card straight from the camera is no problem. My problem is mainly when I use my EOS Rebel XT to record RAW files. The Zoom browser acts like my camera doesn't exist (even though my computer shows it and lets me browse the jpg images recorded). RAW files do not show up, however, and since Zoom doesn't detect the camera, I can't retrieve my RAW files.

I checked for updates on software, but all my files appear to be more recent than what is available on the canon site.
