Ronald S, JR just sent me a private message stating he could get the 30D for 1000-1100 USD. I have to know if this is true for the Canon 30D.

Canon 1d Mark IV, 1Ds, 1D Mark II, JTL Versa 500's, 24-70 2.8 L, 50mm 1.4, Tokina 11-16.

Not sure why "Nikon, here I come". The price at Ritz is still 1399.99 and the price at B&H with the psaug coupon is 1139.95 ... and it's been 1139.95 for awhile. Is this Canon's fault that one store overcharges for their products ?

Even the N**** stuff is overpriced at Ritz. That's just how they do it. That's why I never buy in a store unless I have no other option. You'll get ripped off most of the time. My local store wants $850 for a 17-40, $1700 for a 100-400, and just over $2k for a 70-200L IS. Why? Beats me.

If your local shop is as small as my local shop, and I have a feeling it is, then it's simply because they cannot do the volume that B&H can...so they have to make the most out of each sale.

Here's an example, the numbers may or may not be accurate, but it's ONLY an example. For the sake of simplicity lets assume the lens cost both stores $1200 to acquire.

B&H can move 200 a month, so they set it at $1400 and make $200 off each one. That's $40,000 profit in a month's span. B&H also has a ton of other items in inventory to keep moving and paying the bills.

Local Shop can move only 5 a month in a good month. So they set it at $1600. They make $400 off each lens, for a monthly profit of $2000. They DO NOT have a ton of other inventory to keep things moving along.

There is no way a small store such as yours or mine is going to be able to make money OVERALL selling 5 a month at the margins B&H sells at. Just not going to happen.

That said, I do not support my local shop. I understand their place in the food chain but my money is hard earned too. Plus they're *******s.

Return it. The date on your receipt has to be in the right range of time.

im confused about the OPs statement. he was willing to get the 30D for 1400, and now that he can return it and buy it for a few hundred less.... hes going to switch bodies, and brands for that matter?

if its B&H, as long at its within 14 days, and you have not passed their shutter use count, and it is still NIB condtion. you can return it. there is a possibilty of a restocking fee. and you will have to pay shipping to send it back. basically by the time its all over with, there probably wont be a big difference for the time spent.

How do you use that B&H code? I will be buying one and would like to save a bit if I can.

Just type PSAUG in the search box, when you go to the B&H site.
