Hi Kody. I would definitely go for the Lee holder. Be sure to purchase the wide angle adapter. This will prevent you from vignetting at the wide end. I haven't had issues with vignetting with just three filter slots. Congrats on your 5d! :)

Question:

How do you set the level/angle of the GND filter? Is this always done in the live view mode? Can you use the GND holder with a CPL filter?

This photo was taken in Mexico at a resort I stayed at. The location is further down from Tulum. Give or take an hour by car.

I would've bought it already but, it's not at the top of my priority list. :)

Well you can just look through the view finder, be sure to preview it at the aperture you have set not the wide open default viewfinder. How you align it is your decision ie how you want to control the light in the scene.
In terms of using a CPL i guess you can use the adaptor ring on top of it provided your CPL has a front thread to screw in but its not really practical as you wouldn't be able to control the CPL ie the wide angle adaptor ring would obscure the CPL rotation ring so you would have to touch the glass to turn it. For a practical CPL use you can go down the lee path with the 105mm screw in adaptor but its is really expensive- painfully so. If i want to use a cpl then i use a 77mm filter and hand hold the slide infront of it, inconvenient but cheaper.
So like the say on all bad game shows, 'The choice is up to you'.

I have a question for those using Lee filter holders.
Is the hole in the center of your holder round?
Does your adapter ring rotate freely inside the holder?

Mine holder is oval-shaped and the adapter ring must be forced into the holder to insert it properly. Now the ring is basically wedged tight in the holder. When I rotate it, the ring pops back out part way.

Notice the extra gap on the sides. But with the ring seated against the bottom, it still overlaps at the top.

I would like to know if they are all made like this or mine is defective.
Thanks for any info.

Thanks Andrew. The reason I don't have a gear list up is bcoz' I'm really considering shooting Nikon. After seeing what Nikon has been releasing, it wouldn't hurt to try. :) I've been debating on shooting another system for over a year now and I think it's time. :)
