I dont always use the Lee holder, infact i rarely do these days i prefer to handhold infront of a 77mm CPL. Just wondering if the reduction in glass makes it a pain to hand hold.

There is finger room around the side of the filter, but I don't know if I'd like to hold if for that long a time! Even during the day I was getting an exposure of around 60seconds, so for dusk and dawn shots thats going to go up pretty quickly!

I seriously wouldn't want to hand hold the filter for a 60 minute exposure. :);)

I've just done a four and a half min exposure tonight and I was sick of waiting never mind having to hold the bloomin thing!! It was supposed to be a 32min exposure but I wasn't going to wait that long, so I just turned up the iso.

How do you meter/calculate your shutter speed when you stack two filters like that? Is that 5 stops or 6 when you use 3+2?

This is what I do, it takes a while but after you get use to using GND's you can (or at least I usually can) just look at the scene and come know pretty close to what strength GND or GND's you will need. I actually started with just the 3 stop, took a shot then checked my histogram and seen the sky was too bright so I added the 2 stop, and yes 3+2=5 :).
I usually spot meter off somewhere in the foreground then dial back the exposure 1/3 or 2/3.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Julian, I was afraid I might be a bit rusty, I had not got out to shoot anything in a while.

I just ordered from Teamwork a pair of Hitech Reverse GND filters (2 and 3 stops). Been reading good things about the reverse filters and I want to give it a try.
