These are two shots of my 5 week old daughter. These are only done with a point and shoot camera. Im getting a better camera in about 4 months. Let me know what you think...I have SOO much to learn..this i know! I didnt realize how much until I found this forum. Any help or suggestions would be great as well. thanks

I'm trying to be as positive as possible but It's hard to comment on this picture :) I'm trying to be as constructive as possible. The good news is that your daughter isn't going anywhere so you can shoot and reshoot her as many times as you need and she'll always be a "willing" subject.

If you're just learning photography I'd start by reading some books. My favorites were always:

Bryan Peterson - Understanding Exposure and
Bryan Peterson - Learning to see Creatively

The first one does a very good job covering the basics. Once you read this book take another look at this picture and tell yourself what could be improved. Then shoot away :)

Cheers,

Tom

P.S. 5 Weeks late, but congratulations on a beautiful baby daughter :)

Cute shots but I don't care for the "selective coloring" or the b/w conversion. I think the full color version would most likely look better. It also looks like you used a direct flash that caused some harsh lighting and hot spots on the face. As stated above, you have a great subject and plenty of opportunity for more practice. :)
