Taken this afternoon, after 5pm at Sandals, as I was leaving work. Wish I could actually jump in the pool :( C&C welcomed.

Nice and rich colours EA. One thing that does strike me though is that the building in the centre is the obvious focal point and it shows that the photo is sloping slightly downwards to the left.

I like it! Nice color and detail, E-A. It could be a magazine advertisement for the place.

I thought so too, but I used the little dialog box in Image>Rotate as a "level", and it is actually straight. I came to the conclusion that it is an illusion created by the diagonal line of pillars on the left.

I tried the measure tool in Photoshop along the horizontal line of the triangle bit, and it suggested a 0.7deg counter-clockwise rotation. In any case, it is still a very nice photo. :)

I downloaded the photo and used the ruler on the same spot. Photoshop says that it needs 0 degrees, so I guess that is pretty darn perfect now!

Beautiful shot Elisabeth. I actually prefer the original as your correction has tilted your foreground a bit. I guess it's down to what you feel is most important to be level. I know nothing about distortion correcting software but, if it's an issue, you might look into that, if that is in fact what's causing it.

Thanks - actually the distortion correction can be done in Photoshop, using Edit>Free Transform. I just tried it and I think it helped.

Thanks Neil, keep your fingers crossed for me, I emailed it to one of the executives there, who actually got me the space to go there every Friday to sell my photos. I am not on the staff of Sandals, but go there along with 7 other craftsmen and women who sell authentic Bahamian made souvenirs, not the imported junk that is sold in the straw markets down town. We go every Friday, and spend the day overlooking the beach trying to separate tourists from their money! I won't get rich doing this, but it paid for my 350D, Tokina lens, and a 2 1/2 week trip to Banff (flight and spending money, I stayed with my parents) in the summer. This is the slow period, but things pick up towards the end of October, I get to do this at Atlantis on a fairly regular basis, and we have a big arts and crafts show coming up at the Wyndham Crystal Palace in early December. The Radisson was a weekly gig for me too, but they are renovating now, getting ready for a big new hotel to be built there - while I had Radisson and Sandals every week, and Atlantis a couple of times a month, I was able to clear an average of $400 in a 2 1/2 day week selling mostly 5x7 matted prints and small notecards. More than I was making as a medical office assistant working 4 days a week!
