Birds in the backyard

Well theres certainly no shortage of birds in my yard at the moment so i went out this morning and took some piccies.

All very cool shots with the first one especially getting my attention. very unfamilar birds for me and again, the first one is quite dramatic with the pose, the look, nice detail and BG.

Thats a Masked Lapwing (AKA Plover). They are nesting in my yard so everytime i venture out of the house they swoop me. If your going to lay your eggs in the middle of the lawn you're going to get trouble

How big is he? He looks big enough to peck your eye out.

very much so, they stand about 20cm high and have these barbs on their wings. Quite cranky fellas.

Well, in that case, what do they taste like?

Thanks Greg, they are big meanies, iv tried ot tell them if they want to nest hassle free to do it in a tree, but nooooo they would rather swoop every critter that moves withing 100m of them (that includes me).
