Jim, that's a great shot, so sharp and crisp. Not to mention, he gave you the perfect pose.

Thank you, the credit goes to the Hawk for coming in close enough for a decent shot and then hovering long enough to marvel at the beauty of it all :)

Simply outstanding in-flight caputre.

Thank you, it made my day, it was very frustrating up until then ;)

Nice shot. Might wanna get rid of the dust spot to the right of the beak though. Interesting bird...definately.

The cure for my frustrations, and I was frustrated. I forgot to add, I had the chance for a great owl in flight shot but I had the 400 switched to 8.5m to infinity and could not focus close enough to get the shot in time  when I did switch it, the owl was long gone

I can relate to that...some days you work like mad and nothing comes of it. Glad your hard work paid off :)

Someone once told me that [Something else] was a lot like surfing. On TV, you see them riding the wave all the time. In reality, it's 99% paddling and 1% riding.

I must confess that I initially thought that it was a lot easier to get the bird pic. Thanks for reminding us that we must work for our keepers, they don't fall in our laps. Now I don't feel so bad spending an entire day out even if I don't get much....because if I wasn't out there at all, I can be guaranteed that I won't get ANYTHING..

Somedays I get nothing but birds that are 10,000 feet away and backlit, but I will take those days over most any because its still alot of fun

Yeah I suppose that any photo op is better than none, even if the pics don't always turn out to be keepers or marketable :)

Somtimes its just fun to be out in the wild, even if the birds and wildlife are un-cooperative ;)

True :)

Was out today as well, covering another event, quite a lot of shots were OOF, more than usual, dunno why (5D and 24-105 combo - something I have the most 'flight time' on and I know how to get the best out of it), but still better than sitting at home or being cooped up in the office fighting a war..

Marathon event. They've been advertising the road closures for the past week, so I figured, why not make the most out of it..go and shoot ;)

Will post pics later.

Good opportunity to watch the working pro's as well, see what they are doing. I got one shot so clear where one of them was in the picture, I was even able to read the guy's LCD settings off his camera.. like wow
