Okay guys. October has finally come and I have $2500 I would like to spend... the rest is going to be saved. I am limiting myself this time. I have to lol.

Anyhow, I am just seeing how you guys would put $2500 to use.

Here's what I am looking to get.

2 lenses
Two 4GB Extreme III CF cards
Circular Polarizer Filter
A monopod

But I want to hear from you of what you'd get. Take note that I already have the 70-200 2.8 IS. I am looking for wide angle and those "walk around" type lenses.

Thank you.

Gitzo studex xl monopod-$180
24-70L or 24-105L (your preference)-$1100
50 1.4-$300
8gb extreme III- $350
17-40L-$550 used

That's just about $2500.

24-70L or 24-105L
50/1.4
17-40L

Would be perfect. I can't imagine you shooting your 5D with nothing shorter than 70mm. Then whatever tripods (check out Fiesol, Dynatran, and Benro... they seem to have awesome bang for buck)

Too much gear...

The EF-S 18-55mm could be your lens.
WA +walk-about for $100.
The image below is unprocessed JPG out of camera at 18 mm.

Peter, good to see you around again. BTW, you've got some leaves blocking the view.

Always so good to hear from you, Jojo ole bean. :)
After all, I have you to thank for my honorific title.
Incidentally, somewhere here I saw pictures of your little daughter....she is as cute as a button, remarkable similarity to her brother. Thankfully, the children are probably blessed with their mother's good looks.

Now, back to the lens and the leaves: I placed them there on purpose so I could check the hyperfocal distance of the lens.

Thx for the kind words, Peter. It's my girl's 1st bday party today, so I have to take "real"pictures ;) It's a pumpkin theme, so we're all in orange.

Sorry to the OP for this OT discussion; El Comedian is back though.

I have the 5D and EF-S lenses will not mount on a 5D.

You are kidding right? The best landscape shots are made with full frame cameras! :)

even if he converted it why would he buy a $100 dollar lens when he has $2500??

1. 17-40L
2. 100-400L
3. Monpod off Ebay (Dynatran w/ ball head ~$45.00)
4. 2 gb Extreme cards from CircuitCity (~$45.00 ea)

That's what I'd do.
