very strange skies the day I took this - and I used a bit of flash on it. Not sure if I like it or not. Would appreciate your comments.

Hi Nancy,
he gave you a good pose and your composition is good. IMHO he is little soft, while his exposure looks good the sky is too blown out.

Wow, I think it is a beautiful capture. Since you have "image editing OK" I ran some sharpening on the image. It is a great example of the brown thrasher. I have had the bright backgrounds during cloud covered days and I think the exposure works.

Thanks for the edit, Dennis! I tried and tried to sharpen, but kept getting increased noise, and can't seem to get the hang of Neat Image. I have the feeling I have a lovely collection of shots, if I just knew how better to edit them.
Funny thing about the Brown Thrasher - until a few months ago, I didn't know there was such a bird. And just this morning, there was one in my backyard. I've lived here 16 years and never seen one before this past season.

Very nice high key shot of this interesting bird. I like the composition and Dennis did a great job of bringing out more details. Nice work!
