Trying to catch the next flight.

Last winter, I spent a couple days aiming my 18 to 55m Canon EFs lens that I had prefocused to catch chickadees flying in for free food. Occasionaly, I hit it right and actually got an image like this one.

Look forward to C&C. Is there an easier way?

Great capture, birds in flight is tough, this looks good, just remember to keep the shutter fast, 1/1000th or so

Great timing, fantastic shot.

no easy way - this is a very good atempt, for birds in flight its a case of setting up the camera fast shutter as said and take lots of shots .

Excellent.....the best flying chickadee shot I have seen on this forum. Love your lens selection.....quite smart. Keep the shutter speed to no less than 1/1500 sec.

I don't know if this is a good timed shot or a very lucky shot. But the angle of the bird showing full feathers and fanned tail is quite superb. with a little motion in the wings showing flight action and nice focus on the bird is quite good, well done, keep it up.

Thanks. Was it good timing or good luck? A little of both... but mostly LUCK! I shot dozens of times to get three or four good ones. A lot of trial and error.
