Welcome to POTN. What do you think so far? Its a great forum and fun. Its like being back at school for me.

Anyway, your pic is good. Got more?
Its a classic pose there, neck turned, looking for yummy. Good timing.

If it was in a show for judging, I know what they'd say. (They said it often enough to me with bird shots). The overcast looking light has its advantages (no hotspots/blown whites to worry about) but overcast light really brings out greens and other colours so evenly, colour composition must be spot on. And thats the main fault IMHO; too much colour competing for attention here. Could have been avoided or minimised with given a chance with another location - the bottlebrush is really the problem.
Some more nitpicking - the text in the left corner is hard to read.

Thanks for the comments.
I see there are a few of us from the Hunter posting (I should put some of my Knights photos in the sports section).
The site has been very usefull to me so far. I am certainly trying to get better pictures after seeing what others are posting - and i bought 'Digital SLR photography for dummies' after reading a thread about advice for beginners.
I know nothing about photography - so am planning on doing a course at Hunter region school of photography soon (a friend recommended it).

Doh!! Now I get it, the text says Bonnells Bay! Well, great news.
I've looked into the HSP, but it seems its always booked solid.

If i can't get in there i'll try to find a tech course - it should be better - but might not be digital?

Well, start at Toronto library or Speers Pt. TAFE may be a few months off. You'll learn a lot hanging around here. But be warned -burn your credit card NOW.

Today.

I've already decided to set a very firm budget.
I see you can basically spend money till you bleed dry - and to make it worse - i got into it because i have a new girlfriend who is keen on photography - so if i upgrade i have to get the same for her.

Well, sounds optimistic to me. The shopping list always grows longer and longer.
Cheers and good luck.
