Linton Falls, N.Yorks.

Well I didn't really get the right feeling this weekend but I forced myself out on Saturday (yesterday) despite the clouds and threats of rain. I got nearly as far as Grassington then turned off to Linton Falls, which I have never visited, to my suprise there is quite a large limestone cascade. The river Wharfe is carrying a bit of water from the recent rain and the colour as it ran through the fall was wonderful. Didn't get many I liked but here is one. The difficulty here is that the best angle is from the other bank, but that is a shear cliff face with house at the top, so no go.
There is some distortion but I kind a like it.

Great shot Neil, great exposure, there's some power in that river flow, is that where we get Yorkshire Tea from?? LOL

LOL, it might well be. I did a few exposures but the shorter ones really show the power of the river better. Cheers!

If the river is flowing like that already, what will it be like in winter?

4 drops of rain in the Wharfe and it rises a foot, I used to fish both the Wharfe and Swale and remember once or twice having to rush my tackle out of the way as tidal waves swept down stream. Very sensitive as the catchment areas are large. Can't wait for some torrential rains to bring all the Yorkshire falls out a bit

I really like the shot - interesting colour of the water but it certainly adds something Ditto that for the sky, it's nice and threatening. I like the colours, grey, white and that brown with a little bit of dull green thrown in... very muted.

There I was thinking that I wasn't coming out with much from the day, cheers!

I like the color of the water, the slow shutter and the angle. It all works to make a dynamic image. Good work, Neil.

I really like the color of the water too and you've certainly captured it perfectly. Great composition and I'm a fan of the distortion as well.

PS - ( the guy in the white pullover on the top left was actually carrying a 100-400 L, and there was I watching a kingfisher with nothing more that 105mmm )

I really like the exposure on this one, Neil. There's just enough blurring in the water to give the sense of movement, without overdoing it.

My other post, side view, is more suited to long exposure. The dynamics of ths shot demanded speed and force
