First day out today in a while. I was hoping that a combination of the high tide and the strong wind would bring some exotics in shore - but the wind dropped and the sea was very calm.

It is a pity that they called this the 'common gull' because I think the adult is very pretty. This is a juvenile. Taken at Hoylake, Wirral, England.

400mm - handheld.

Very nice! I really enjoy photographing seagulls. Although many people consider them to be pests, I find them to be very beautiful and entertaining birds. :) Well done!

Thanks Zipline. And the benefit is that there are plenty of them to try out on.

Thanks Justin and Donna. My kids were feeding them bread (and hola hoops) to keep them flying in close.

Yes, I get days like this Damian, you go out to capture that one or maybe two birds you haven't on the list to meet up with only sparrows or Gulls, but sometimes you have to take what you get. But you have to agree the seagull can be very photogenic. Nice shot, well done.

Nice!

The colours on this are very true to life, and the gull is nicely sharp without looking sharpened.

Just right.
