Hello, all.

I haven't done much in the way of macro shooting, but I found this bug this afternoon while playing with my dog. It was on a tree and, quite frankly, I'm surprised I ever saw it. It is about 3/4" long and pretty well camouflaged.

I took this with my DRebel (300D) and Sigma 17-70 on a tripod.

Can anyone help identify it for me?

I agree - could only be a Shieldbug. The Tree Stinkbug photographed in CA looks similar:
