That's a challenging photo to get exposed just right. Both a black and white dog. Seems like the white one is a bit blown out, did you do any PP on this, or is this out of the camera? Your eye certainly found a good layout!

the white dog and wall behind were blown a bit alright

as it was a darkish area I used flash
(it was night time and it was taken in a hurry while passing)
however I clean forgot that the light would reflect in the building above the lads heads:mad:
so I cropped it a lot, but still liked it

I added accented edges, very little, to give them a bit of an edge

they were real nice to me after I took the shot and we parted on good terms

:)
thanks SSwanson

I really like the fact that you were able to catch the moment and they were still minding their business. The affinity bettween those fellows and the dogs works well in showing their good nature, in spite of being apparently people that normally would not worry too much about themselves (in my perspective), let alone worring about others, some would think. It is a very good expression of what may reside behind the stereotype. I also enjoyed the game of colors, black and white and the black and red.
Good eye as allways, Marie.

Cheers,
Jaime

What is the big red thing in the upper left? It's really distracting, did you add that? Other than that I like the image.

I know what you mean, thanks Jaime

they seemed really good company there
and because of the well looked after dogs and the nice matching 'jackets' on the men I would suspect they are good friends just resting there for a while but have homes to go to

:)

yes, I added 'page curl' in psp 9
the blank white wall distracted from the overall appearance
but I knew this was not so good either
:(

I was lucky that the man's head was bending anyway so thought it looked like he was ducking the awning

A layer mask would make that an easy fix. Take a look at this thread for how to use a Layer Mask to selectivly lighten/darken part of a pic: Airport runway shoot
