Red-Bellied Woodpecker ( A first for me )

I can't believe my eyes, a downy yesterday and today a red- bellied . I was so shocked I am amazed the pics came out . The poses are not the best so hopefully he will come back. The first is full frame f 5.6 1/125 iso 800 @ 235 mm. The second is slightly cropped f 5.6 1/125 iso 800 @ 300mm. Thanks for looking and commenting , hope you enjoy.

Um... yeah... I would NOT be disappointed to have to call these my photos! Great photos and I personally think they're great poses as well. I'd love to see one of these. Not sure if they're up my way or not. Guess I'll have to check into it!

My book says their territory stops at the Massachusetts line. But you never know. They have them here in mid Wisconsin.

I would be happy to say these were mine. Can't believe he sat still for you in #2. I have never seen one not being nervous like.

These shots are great. The pose, exposure and detail are spot on, especially the detail in the chest feathers!. One reason I like the pose is you can see that red underside quite nicely. !! Very nice.

Thank you all for looking and commenting ! About the pose , I wish he had put his back to me so you could see the beautiful black and white feathers. As for the shot of him sitting I like that pose because I finally could figure out his name( red-bellied ). I have never seen one up close before.

Dante King - I used the 100-L , I love this lens because the close focus is 5.9'. These shots were taken from a hide and the perch is 6'-6" away. I have found this gives me the best results.
