I am very inexperienced, but have a great mentor. I have only had my 20D for about 6 weeks, but I’m working really hard... going to seminars, watching DVD’s, and reading a lot.
I have taken pictures of a few friends, trying to get a body of work together to show potential clients.
I was getting my plates renewed at the BMV, when I saw a very beautiful young girl... Let’s face it, pretty people make for an easy time getting pretty pictures. I approached this perfect stranger and asked her if she would model for me for a free 8X10. I explained that they would be "senior style pictures" and "I’m not just some perv with a camera." I asked her to bring someone along. I’m sure she assumed it was to make her feel safe, but I actually just needed someone to hold a reflector lol.
She brought her mom, and they purchased 5X7's & a sheet of wallets as well as the free 8X10. Now, I know this is a very modest purchase, but remember... they were not looking for a photographer, I was looking for a model ;-)a
These are the images they bought. They are not perfect, but I’m curious if you guys will pick up on the same things as me, or if you will show me things I can do better that I haven’t thought of. Thanks for your input.

The bestcomment was - they bought some! I would be afraid they would run away screaming if I tried that approach. I do like the shots and processing

I like #2 the best, very pretty girl. You sure do have some courage to just ask a stranger. I need to do that sometime.

BTW, what city is that in the background?

Great going chap, cahunahs of steel to ask the lady.

Love #2, not crazy about #1, think its the sloped angle at the bottom not sure though.

Still you are selling to somebody that hadnt even thought about buying, and my rule is if somebody buys a picture from you, then its a good one!! Good ones = money makers.

Nice job and congrats on the good fortune of finding a willing model.
I really like the second one.

From you sig can I assume you're a female?

I wonder if a male would have such luck right outta the shute.

Thanks everyone for the complements and critiques.
It took me a long time to get the courage up to ask her. I didn’t want to come off as some creep with an adult website. ;-)a
Luckily, the BMV has the slowest service in town! :-) They gave me plenty of time to get my courage up.
You should recognize that city ccheever... That is Indianapolis in the background of #2. We took all of these at the canal.

No, I'm a guy.

I guess I should have thought about it sounding like a girl before I used it as my screen name.
