Hello,

I'm thinking on getting one of these filters to use it with mi Tamron SP 28-75mm f/2.8... which one would you recommend?

Tiffen 67mm Circular Polarizing Glass Filter

Tiffen 67mm Circular Polarizing Glass Filter - Wide-Angle

One is wide-Angle and the other is not... is there a lot of difference between that?...

Thanks

second one has a thinner thread ring so you cannot put the lenscap over the filter. A regular thickness one like the first one is deeper with threads, so you can put a lens cap or another filter in front of it. Some use thin filters so that the edges of the filter's thread ring cannot be seen in the shot. You don't need a thin filter on the tamron 28-75.

Neither.... It appears that neither is multicoated. That feature will help to eliminate flare if there happens to be a bright light source (or reflection of a bright light source) that could impinge on the filter. I would suggest that you look at Hoya, B&W, or other better-made brands that are multicoated.

You probably don't need the "thin" design for that lens.

+1

I've bought exactly ONE Tiffen filter.. (and it was a polarizer at that).. it was the first filter I'd ever bought, and will likely be the last.

Hard to believe, but I had build issues with mine.. the rotating part of the filter actually came loose in the field. (duct tape rescued the day, but you can't help but look like a goof when there's duct tape haning off your front element).

Hoya on the other hand, makes a much more effective polarizer and aside from a B+W filter I own, is the only brand I've grown to use.
