Here are some informal shots of my son climbing apple trees picking apples.
They were taken with a 24-70 2.8 and a flash.

Constructive criticism welcome.

The first one too blown out, but I like the second one despite the harsh lighting. Cute kid.

#2 is a fantastic composition and capture. #1 I also think is too blown by the bright sun.

Thanks for the kind words. I agree number one is a little hot. I don't have the original here or I would try and dial it back a bit.

Here is a third, my view of the photos are clouded. I see things in my sons eyes that have nothing to do with the photo but draw me to them.
