Got a 50mm 1.8 for my digital camera. So here are a few test shots of my daughter. I know I need to watch for the focus on the eyes.
The skin tones are a little washed out, I had my flash on and didn't turn it down to half power while I was so close. And I was playing with the white blances on some of the shots... BUt I kind of like the effect. I did tweak them a little in photoshop...

Tell me what you think...

I like #'s 1, 4 & 5. The other two are just missing too much detail for me.

Sorry that the critique is so limited, but i know next to nothing about taking portraits (something i hope to change before too long). ;)

They're all overexposed, with the exception of the last one, maybe.

Did you shoot in RAW? You could fix these to some extent with RAW.

The white balance is way off in number two (too cool).

A little curves adjustment in CS2 might help; eg:

HTTP response: 404 | MIME changed to 'text/html' | Byte size: ZERO

(if you'd rather me not put this up, let me know, i'll take it down)

All exposure problems aside, the framing and composure are wonderful, and your subject is wonderful. These photos with different exposure settings would just SING!

Yeah, I wasn't paying attention to the shutter speed when I took these....I took them with jpeg.

I usually shoot test shots in jpeg. RAW is for everything else. ;)

I was playing around with my white balances to see the different color effests.....

But thanks for the compliments on the framing, etc... :)
