Purchase a EF 28-135mm F3.5-5.6 IS for $325? Lens is in good condition, comming from a friend. He's offering the Lens, 3 filters (he said he paid 109 for the pack of filters) and the lens hood for the lens to me for a total of $325. I trust him that everything is in good shape. So should I take that deal ?

I've kind of come to the decision that this would be a good walk around lens for me. It's certainly better than the kit lens. I like the idea of the little bit more of a zoom than the kit lens.

Thanks

Andrew

Sounds like a good deal. The lens alone would be a good deal at $325. I had this lens before and sold it with the same items for a bit more (mine was less than 1 yr old though) No paypal fees or shipping...not bad. But ask your friend why he/she's selling.

I'd get an optically better lens like a Tamron 28-75, new with a 6 year warranty instead for about the same price.

He's selling beacause he's moving up to an L lens in roughly the same range. I'm not surprised that he's selling it to me at a good if not great price. He'd rather sell to someone he knows than make a few extra bucks off someone he doesn't.

One reason I've picked this lens out is for the little bit of extra zoom I get out of it (135mm). I cant afford a longer telephoto so I thought this one might fill the need for the little bit more zoom than the kit lens does. If i picked up the Tamron you suggusted I feel I might not be getting much more zoom than the kit lens.
