Stitcher, is this too abstract to be commercial?

Hi,

I have been playing around with stitching and wondered what others thought about the technique and my attempt. Is it at all commercial? or too personal/crazy? Also would love to hear your C&C (although detail is poor in this size file). Anybody else got some to show?

These were taken from Gosport in Hampshire, UK, looking across to Portsmouth and the Spinnaker Tower

Thanks in advance

I like these types of shots, but I think they look better when you have taken some of the shots at an angle so the edges aren't so square. That being said, I like this a lot! I keep meaning to try it but have never gotten around to it.

I like it. That would look great super size hanging on the wall.

Yes! That would look great on the wall :) I think it’s very inspiring, would love to try something like that.

Thanks for your kind words, I have a 12X5 I'm about to mount which looks okay but you still cant see the detail very well. It would be great to have a huge mural of it somewhere. One day maybe!

There is a photographer in Tacoma, WA that specializes in these shots.. He considers them his signature style or something like that. he hangs them in a local coffee shop on occasion. I love them and think they're cool. He tries to avoid the hard lines and tries to get the exposures correct for each one but I like your look better, the hard lines and such. I think it would work well with the setting you've chosen or anything in an industrial setting. I'm not sure I'd like it for a traditional landscape though.

Thanks Theague, I went for the hard lines to compliment the two main structures. The exposures were also a choice, I wanted to keep the detail of the far shorline but also show the sky as it was quite colourful. A grad filter would have been too fidely to allign but I'm pretty happy with the contrasting exposures which punctuates the fact that they are individual photos. I agree about traditional landscapes not being suited and am looking for other places to try this out.

I like the effect, and I think that the collage benefits by deliberately having different exposures as these help to emphasise the collage effect.
