Oh sure. That's easy to say now that it's the end of FY06! ;) New fiscal year. New money. More spending in your future. You owe me a beer.

is this better than the sigma 17-70?

I haven't done any research on the sigma lenses.. The Tammy's caught my eye months ago with the 28-75 f2.8... and when the wider 17-50 was pointed out to me I was thrilled sold...

Nice price ... I would have it if I could find one for that. Looking forward to some shots from you.

Uh-oh... Its one of those "Brooklyn Sites"!

I would avoid those at all costs... Import means no Warranty from manufacturer, correct?

Any lens with a problem you will notice it very quickly, so 90 days seems cool to me at the price you are paying. Most lenses will go on for years and years. As long as it's a reputable place should be fine. Check www.resellerratings.com (external link) normally, but I did that and this shop not rated as yet.

Some of the horror stories I have heard about these sites were about their return policy. They were charging an obscene amount for what they called "restocking". Assume you used a credit card, you should be protected...

Hopefully, everything will be fine. Don't mean to scare you, but the stories about these sites will make you sick!

They have links to both pricegrabber and bizrate rating profiles where they've received a total of one single comment...joined Pricegrabber just a few weeks ago. Not a single review on pricegrabber either.

Hope all goes well Sari but this looks like your typical brand new scam site.

Of course it is. It's a fixed f/2.8 aperture rather than a variable, like the Sigma.

And PM me the site, too. Thanks.

I already posted it Liza.. and my lens should be here tomorrow so i'll let y'all know how it is... I do know that they were fast, friendly and competent over the phone.. and I'm a sucker for those fixed apertures... really brings it to the quality of a prime.. IMO anyway...
