I'll be going to Jamaica soon and since this is my first vacation with my 30d I'm having a little trouble figuring out how to approach my shooting. Right now I have two 1gb cards which is fine if I want shoot shoot in jpeg, but since switching a few months back to shooting only RAW I don't think I can go back. Do I need to buy another CF card, do I shoot some RAW and some jpeg,or do I go thru the photos each day and decide there which ones to delete? What do some of you do? I'm not one to just shoot away like crazy but I probably will shoot more than when if I was using film. Any advice?

Thanks
Bruce

if you dont want to spend the money on more CF cards, look into photobanks, if you travel a lot, photobanks may be a better solution for you, i would think anyways

Id keep shooting RAW, you dont want to get home, have a shot that you forgot to change a setting on, and regret it forever(well, until you get over it, hehe)

Otherwise, get some more CF CARDS!

I shoot RAW and have about 7 GB in cards that is just about right for me for a 10 day vacation. Using my 20D it works out to about 840 images, or the equivalent of 23 36 exposure rolls of film. I prefer cards since I don't trust having all of my vacation shots on one device which could crater on me ... if I lose 1 out of 6 cards it isn't as big a deal.

Check out B&H Photo since they have 2 GB Sandisk Ultra II's for $59.95 after a $20 mail in rebate. At that price it would be worth it to get a bunch.

First as Fureinku said keep shooting raw. I carry a notebook and copy all my cards to it. Being paranoid I then make a second copy on to my iPod. Either buy a ton of cards or look at some of the little backup drives. If I didn't have the notebook I'd probably own one of the Epson P2000 or P4000.

Thanks Frank,Bob and dr. I guess adding cards appears to be the way to go. We travel quite a bit in the winter so a couple 2GB cards at $59.99 each sound like a good price.

I've read good things about the Wolverine units. Costco sells them starting at about $170 for a 60Gig unit.
