drummers are often the hardest to capture. at the back of the stage, behind all sorts of drums, cymbals, stands, microphones, other people's gear, other people........you get the point. so let's see what you got. i'll start with one of my favorite drumming duo's: butch trucks and jaimoe of the allman brothers. they play so well together.

nice, i'm glad someone else is playing along. i'll throw up one more. jeff sipe aka "apt q-258" is one of my favorite drummers. i need to do a little more pp work on this one as i really like the comp. it makes it easier when you are on a more personal level with the musician.

I'm a definite event photograpy noob myself... focus and lighting issues still kill me!

cmgmyr, the composition of your shots is great, #2 in particular is fantastic.

Probabely easier then the Powershot as well ;)
Set your ISO to about ISO 1600, open up the aperture, and shoot, shoot, shoot!

you're gonna need some "fast glass" to go with that, if you want to shoot music (in dark settings).
