This lens is all good. Must try the 2X but prefer the 7D to the 1D at the moment.

with 1.4, bit of shimmer so slightly less sharp ;)

Thanks, actually I was on my belly in very wet sand/mud. The camera and lens were mounted on the Wimberley II and Skimmer ground pod (high and dry).

Was able to finally get out. With the help of some of my friends in the bird forum on the IDs, was able to catch a female red-winged blackbird and a male common yellowthroat
