scermat Senior Member More info | Sep 08, 2014 17:36 | #3339 Took this on my first trip to Africa and ended up using it for the vast majority of the shots. Most of the time with the 1.4TC on too. I loved being able to get very very close to the subjects! All with 500 + 1.4TC III. If anyone is having doubts about how well this lens takes the new TC like I was having before I purchased it, go for it! I find that sharpness is hardly affected! AF is a bit slower but nothing too major unless light is really poor. The lion yawning was at f6.3, all others at f5.6. Performance with 2x is not so good. Because of that i sold my 2x TCIII and now buying a 1.4 TCIII. Your pictures are underlining my thoughts. scermat wrote in post #17142862 Took this on my first trip to Africa and ended up using it for the vast majority of the shots.
