Jun 07, 2016 11:44 | #3862 Not a strap, but a carry system. I use the Cotton Carrier when I rented the 500 f4 and 200-400. Works great! When you see my camera gear you'll think I'm a pro.

Scrumhalf Cream of the Crop More info | Jun 07, 2016 12:07 | #3863 I'm thinking of purchasing the version II. What's a good quick release plate for this lens? I was considering the Wimberley P50, but are there others that I should consider? Plan is to get a Wimberley Sidekick to go with it. Sam

IMHO this is the way to go vs. a plate. A much more elegant solution RRS, Kirk and others make them. I think LCF 53 is the right RRS model for the newer MkII lenses. http://www.reallyrightstuff.com …EF-200-400mm-f-4L-IS-1-4x On my 500mm it happens to be one made by 4th generation design, but I think the RRS may be better in many regards. The 4TH gen offers a lower profile, but makes using it to carry it harder. https://store.naturescapes.net …for-canon-500-f4-is-lens/ Saves weight though! ![]() Interesting! The current 4th gen for the new models looks to be height adjustable! https://store.naturescapes.net …x-5l-lens-foot-low-mount/ I like the low profile one Jake. For the strap I use the one that comes with the camera. But when I bought the 500mm the lens strap is missing I thought maybe I should buy one. Peter

Jun 09, 2016 06:13 | #3868 I use the 4th gen foot on my 600mm and as Jake has said it does lower the profile, and uncomfortable to carry, so I screw the black rapid hoop thingy straight to it, and use my RS7. Very comfortable, hope this helps Queens Royal Hussars

Scrumhalf Cream of the Crop More info | Jun 09, 2016 10:08 | #3869 Be careful with the low profile one and do your research. It seems to work fine on the 600 II, but on the 500 II, somebody had posted on FM that the low profile version interferes with the hood when it is placed reversed on the lens. The regular profile version is ok, so I ordered that one. Sam
