I'm certain that the majority of you in the U.S have seen this bird often. It is a Yellow Lesserlegs.

I took this photo in the UK (Cheddar, S.W England), it's obviously been lost in it's travels. It is a very RARE bird to see in the UK as only 10 have ever been seen. I was thrilled to get some nice shots of such a beautiful bird. It surprised me how small it was. It attracted a lot of interest. I spoke to a couple yesterday who travelled from Kent to see it and and a family who travelled over 200 miles to see it. It's fascinating to hear what people would do when they are so passionate when it comes to their hobbies. For me I was lucky, it was only 10 miles.

I had to use the 1.4x TC for this and I have heavily cropped the original image.

Great feather detail on that shot! I think you mean "Lesser Yellowlegs" though! ;)

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

Thank You Sam, it goes to show you how little I know about North American Birds, I'm very pleased with the images I captured. I have corrected my Flickr site with the correct naming, cheers, Regards Paul

Black Redstart

The Black Redstart is a difficult bird to see in the UK with a population of around 1,000. Yesterday I took about 20 photo's of this bird. It was very grey and overcast, but never-the-less I was pleased with them considering the circumstances. When I awoke this morning I could not believe my luck, the sun was shinning, how lucky for November.

I went to the same spot as yesterday, Brean Down, Somerset. Within 20 minutes there he was. A Robin was chasing him around but he kept coming back. I managed to get about 10 metres from him.

I had the sun behind and the conditions were perfect so managed to get the ISO down and the speed up. Having checked the captures, I was so pleased with them,.....And Yes I'm sure you have done it, I deleted all the previous days photos and replaced them with today's.

They have of course have been cropped and I have used DPP4 to slightly enhance them. I used the 1.4TC (III) with my 1d4.

I was aware that Bearded Tits had been seen at Westhay Moor in Somerset (UK). After 3 visits I had not seen any, only glimpse as they tended to be low down in the reeds. On my 4th visit within 15 minutes There were 6, 2 Males and 4 females, no more than 10 metres from me. They are absolutely stunning to watch.

I used my 2x TC and managed to get a good 30-40 shots which I was so very pleased with
