The last one unfortunately has a branch covering the beak tip but I like the colours nevertheless.

Photographed this Crested Barbet on a recent trip to the east coast of South Africa. A loud and colorful bird with quite a lot of personality. I remain quite astonished at the sharpness of this lens with a 1.4 TC iii attached. What a joy!

The last image here shows an American flag-like "Stars and Stripes" pattern like a bib around its neck - something I hadn't noticed like this before.

The 'lowly' Cape sparrow, common where I live in the world but still pretty up close. This pair allowed me to get quite close and capture some nice detail. Mister and Missus.

A few blue birds for a change...
The first two are red-winged starlings, common where I live. The female has the grey head. This is followed by a purple crested Turaco (beautiful red seen in the wings if you can catch them in flight - I have not been lucky yet) and lastly a glossy starling. Again, a joy to use this lens. All with the TC 1.4iii attached.

Grumpy old man: (Burchell's Coucal) A shy, skulking species that is often seen fleetingly as the bird dives into thick vegetation. This one sat quietly in a slight drizzle for some while affording me some opportunity for a few photos.

Rufus-naped Lark photographed near Pietermaritzburg in KZN, South Africa. After a showy flight they land nearby and start doing a hunched over skulk and run away from you. Well camouflaged in their native vegetation.

White eared Barbet, seen frequently on a recent visit to the KZN North coast, South Africa. They regularly visited one of the Ficus trees and eat its wild figs but also feast on winged termites when the opportunity presents itself.
