Ok this was my first real outing with my new 17-40L. No CP fitted. It didn't matter where I located myself I was just managing to get everything in due to the trees:( There was nothing I could do about the shadow cast on the grass, as the sun rose the blue sky lightened so I reckon it was better with the blue sky and the shadow, any thoughts? I would really appreciate your comments here as it is my first go with this lens, so do not hold back as its the only way to learn;) Thanks in advance for taking time to comment:D
Cheers Ricky

Why should you do something about the shadow?
As far as i can see,the image lacks fg detail and the shadow with its lines just fullfills that.

Ahh "Cally Hoose"

Having lived a 10 minute walk from "Cally Park" all my days I have to say Ricky......it's quite a hard building to get good shots of.

Round the other side you get more space before you hit the trees for better angles, shooting during a high sun is a no no though, as you'll know it's in your face, all the way.

You did okay with this shot mate, for once the sun didn't do you any favours.

I've never heard of Callander House before. What is the background to it? Is it worth a visit? (and then tea and scones at Scottie's house ;))

Excellent idea, John. We could do the Falkirk Wheel after the scones, then Scottie could buy us all beer! ;)

A crisp well-exposed shot. Compositionally, it sounds like you did the best you could - if you want a shot of the whole caboodle, that is. I think I would have got up closer and concentrated on the interesting architecture. Or did you do that as well? :)

Hi Dimitri, yeah i realised it was missing something from the FG but I tried different options and nothing seemed to work for me:cry: I suppose the shadow does contribute a bit ;)

Scotty you are right the better shot is from the other side of the house, but just my luck there was a Shearings tour bus full of cofin dodgers parked slap bang in the centre

John I have never been inside the house so have no idea, I must visit and will update when I have ;) I know Scotty surely he can provide better than tea and Scones

Cheers Mike I probably should have tried to get up close and get more detail, but never really thought to try
Thanks for the comments though guys

John Callander Estate I'd say is very underestimated by both the residents of Falkirk and the local authorities, It has everything to offer, That magnificent house, a lake, a golf course, and a huge woodland area.

Tea n Scones ? more chance of a burger and can of beer at my house
