nice pics. Did you have any problems with the seller? Is the lens exactly as described on the site? Did they charge you a crazy amount for shipping?

I'm considering this lens and if the site is legit, I may order today. Thanks.

I paid for shipping. I wanted it NOW mostly because there's photos that i'll be taking for my work today.. but no. the shipping prices were great and aside from the customer service guy trying to sell me extra stuff that I told him I already had the site was really easy to work with.. I did buy the extended warranty.. as for the noise I'll admit it's not silent like my 70-200 but, it doesn't grind like the nifty and is actually very fast the noise won't bother me... it was something that I considered before I bought it. and if I can shoot with the nifty grinding so badly that subjects ask if that's my camera and is it broke then I can handle a little bit of noise from a tammy...

How can you fail with a location like that.

well thank you. Yep, I think my home is pretty that is actually Payette Lake in McCall Idaho at sunset. I've had much, much better colors then I did last night but, all in all a very nice place to hunt up compositions..

i'll be fair and say that I made a vow sometime ago to never own third party.. if you hunt you'll find a few posts of mine stating my intentions..   .. but, simple fact is that there are beautiful lenses to be had and just because Canon isn't distributing them at the price that I find incredibly appealing doesn't mean their going to be junk. Ofcourse I called my local camera store with my salesbuddy Jason to ask if he found this in stock and to inquire about selling a lens or two.. he immediately offered me about an 8th of what I payed for a five month old lens and suggested the Canon L at 1300 dollars if I really, really HAD to have a 2.8 app... when I suggested that over a grand right now for a lens wasn't in the cards he grudgingly said he'd get me the tammy in four to six weeks... I went online...

Yeah but I thought you would be flamed, drawn and quartered for even daring to suggest such a thing about third party? ;)

While some folks object to my characterization of them as 'compromise', I am always glad when I find a solution that works out. This is the reason why I own a Sigma 70-200/2.8 and shoot it on a 1D. I paid less than the price of a used Canon 70-200 f/4L for it, mind ya, so I am *VERY* happy with that decision despite the Sigma being a tad slower in AF than the real Canons. It leaves one or two minor nitpicks to be desired (hence "compromise") but it is most certainly one I am happy to live with. Can't justify shelling out for a 70-200 2.8 IS USM L :D

Thanks for posting - great autumn colours, we hardly ever get a good display in the UK - certainly on the south coast the leaves blow off almost as soon as they turn red!

Great to hear such a positive story about this lens and about your retailer too!
