Wow, that shot is mesmerizing. I hope whenever I get my f4 (not a 2.8 because of the weight issue for me), it is as sharp as that photo. Who am I kidding though, first I need to be able to take a picture like that to even worry about sharpness of a 2.8 vs 4. LOL.

Hey Mike,
I would put a call in to the B&H business office and explain your situation and ask them how you can place the order you want. My only other suggestion would be to get another card in addition to the one you already have. Once you get your order, immediately retire the second card until you've paid off your balances.

Sigma 70-200mm 2.8 EX HSM and Canon Speedlight 580EX is a match made in heaven!
$890.00 + $380.00 = $1270.00

Thanks for your help Pete. I have emailed B&H and they are pretty rude and just telling me to go and get an American Express Card. Anyway, I think I have found a way to oder it off them now with our Credit Card.

Sorry to hear you encounterd rudness from B & H. I used to have the same problem with Adorama so I stopped using them for over 20 years.

Now I've started to gradually buy small stuff from them but havent had to actually talk to anyone as of yet.

I hope you get your lens, you'll love it. Anyway, best of luck to you.

First for low light, f/2.8 is many times too slow. Also, if you can use a monopod then IS is really not needed. IS helps in hand holdability at lower shutter speeds. Does nothing for action sports.

Thaks for the replies guys!:)

rklepper, I realise that the IS wont help at all for sports, and the type of sports we play over here are generally in very good light, either a bright overcast day or direct sunlight, Anyway, the reason I have decided to go for the IS is that I want to also shoot some parties and some will be low-light, but I also plan to get some faster glass apart from the 50 1.8 and the 70-200 2.8. I also really love aviation photography and have decided that the IS mode 2 will help a lot for panning shots.

You could get the Sigma 70-200 2.8 for $804 and get the Sigma 500 DG Super for 200 on sigma4less.com many compare the Super to the power and function of the 580...could work for you..or maybe if you want the L the 70-200 non IS and the sigma Super flash.
I like my DG Super works pretty good :)

Thanks 05Xrunner, I have pretty much decided on the IS for the reasons I mentioned above. But thanks a lot anyway for the advice. It is always appreciated! Im off to bed now so I will think about weather the IS is really needed. Because I could get the 70-200 NON-IS and 580EX for a bit cheaper than the IS from B&H. Oppinions on this setup for what I have mentioned I shoot above would be appreciated!! Thinking time...

Hi Guys,

Now the time has come for me to get my 1st L. What I am planning on shooting is Sports, like little kids to adults. I know that I will not need the IS for the sports because I will be using a fast shutter speed most of the time (1/250 sec +). I also plan to shoot low-light parties and eventually weddings with this lens too. I like aviation photography also, so IS mode 2 would be helpful for panning. But av photography is just a hobby and will not make me much, if any money. My question to you highly smart people is: Which one should I get, 70-200 2.8L IS or 70-200L (NON-IS) with 580EX or 430EX. The 580/430 will be helpful in the long run also.

Thankyou in advance for your answers!:D

Mike
