I thought I just got a nice pose today until I saw the reflection. It turns out that overhead branches combined to form the cross in this bluejay's eye.

It has a good reflection indeed in the eye but the pose and composition of the bird is also good, well done.

I like it too. What lens/camera combo did you use? Any post processing?

The reflection is very unique!

I used my 75-300 EF at 300. 1/200 at 5.6. The bird was pretty close (10-12 feet). It was a very dark gray day, but I didn't use flash. I did brighten things up afterwards.

I'm still getting used to posting on the forum, so I'm not always sure what to say. I guess I'll catch on sooner or later!

Thanks for the comments. :rolleyes:

Hi nitefrogger;
Sometimes - dems the breaks...;)
I did try cloning out the reflection, but the eye then looked false...:cry:
With a lot of work you probably could get a "realistic" looking eye, but I'd be happy with the shot the way it is... It 'aint that bad!:D
Cheers;
Lee

Thanks folks! Actually, I like the picture BECAUSE of the cross in the eye. I like catching the oddball event or something that you just can't duplicate. Well, I mean that nature can't duplicate!
