Having really got the bug for pitch black photography, we went out again to Dornoch at 6 o'clock. Wore the dogs out with a long walk on the beautiful beach so they'd sleep while we were shooting. Blowing a gale, but still great fun :D
This was shot at f8 for 16 mins 17-40L @ 17mm. This is a very new discipline for us, so C&C VERY welcome.

I think you did a very good job on the picture. The colours turned out really well what with all the purples, blues, etc. I've thought of trying this out, but have as of yet not decided.

Keep up the nice work and I hope to see more examples. :)

The long exposure have given the clouds a sort of misty, surreal look. Lovely colours in the sky and good details on the beach.

Thanks Geoff. Have a go! Its fun and after all, where would you rather be, indoors in front of the fire, down the pub or out in the freezing cold with only a howling gale to keep you company?

Thanks zebedee, Reigh, CarolP, Alan and mws3 for the comments. :D

mws3 try it. We're very lucky up here, that there are many beautiful places that don't suffer from light pollution.

That is a really nice shot and I like it a lot. I would have thouht the moon would have moved more than that with such a long exposure.

Thanks Mark. It was actually a lighthouse, the moon was hidden behind all the clouds! :D

Thanks Dusty, it was taken at ISO 100 with Noise Reduction switched on. So the total exposure time was 32 minutes. :D

Thanks Trevor, I've used In Cam noise reduction for my astro shots too.
That's the only drawback, it doubles the time of the total exposure.

Anyway that's just an awesome shot.
Well done.

It's so surprising how much colour there is in a black sky huh?
Great capture, and well done for composition, which must be very difficult when you can't see a blasted thing
