I stopped at a posh children's store today on a whim and overheard the owner saying she wished she had a camera to take this baby's pic w/this outfit on. I had just thrown my camera in the car for foliage pics today so I grabbed it and took a couple of shots. My focus is a bit off on the first b/c she kept grabbing the hat the SECOND they put it on. But I am wondering what you think of the shots. The owner is looking for a photog for her store and took my card. Would you be pleased?

The first shot is cute, but the background is distracting. I understand about the hat though. Babies are not the most cooperative of models!:)

Thanks! I agree about the bckgrnd. I tried to desaturate and blur it a bit but I took the shot while I could! Since it is for the store, they probably won't mind the "stuff" behind her... I hope :) The one by the door is just to emphasize the bottom part of the outfit. Sadly that outfit probably costs more than what I am wearing at the moment!

Honestly Kristine, no I would not. exposure is off. BG is very distracting and the overall shot does not display the cute nature of the clothes or kid. you needed to put more distance btw the subject and background and get into or provide the proper light.

You know I am a fan of your work. You asked.

I am going to just curl up in a corner now. j/k
Thanks for the honest opinion Dante. I need constructive criticism to improve so thank you. I wish I had had more than 10 seconds to take the shot. Oh well... maybe the store owner won't know a thing about photography!
