I've been lurking for quite some time and finally have the guts to ask for some C&C! I'll say two things immediately; I'm seeing distortion in the second from resizing for web in the second and in the first picture I don't like the leaf so close to her face.

This girl had seen some candid photos I'd taken and asked me to shoot some senior portraits for her. I let her know immediately that I'm definitely not a professional, that I really don't have the right camera and that this is just a hobby of mine...she still wanted me to take some. These were taken with an S2, I've been eyeing up a Rebel for a while...I'm just putting funds together for the glass!

I agree more light on the second one would be better. But nice shots none the less.

carefull with the backgrounds.

#1 The branch by the top of her head is distracting (I'm torn - is it in front or behind her head?)

#2 She kind of gets lost in the picture - there are too many competing elements. If you had angled her a bit, so that her face was closer than the rest of her - it would have been more appealling. Additionally, the bare navel trys to draw the eyes away.

Both images appear a little soft and the lighting a little flat. That said, they are still attractive images and she is very lovely young lady.

Pretty girl. Nice compositions, but they really need fill flash. The eyes are very very dark.

I agree that the compositions are nice, but I think they are both out of focus. the 2nd appears to be focused on the leaves in the front. If the correct focus point had been chosen, the photo would be super.
:-)

20D and a 50 1.4 - perfect
