Going to the Canyon soon and what to get some ideas on photos and angles.

What lenses do you for most here. I have 17-35, 28-70 and 70-200.

Some times tough to judge what final image will look like when viewing in 1.8 screen. And know you have to be careful using wide angle on this type of subject as it can appear too far away. And if you use telephoto can come out just looking like a couple of rocks.

Any input would be appreciated.

Concentrate on early morning and late evening sun rises and sunsets. They will offer the best lighting and color for you. Your lens will be fine however a 10-22mm zoom would be nice.

Have Fun

Toney is right about a 10-22. My take is, the wider the better. Only need a long lens if some sheep or condors show up.

Your 17-35 will be a great lens. Cape Royal on the north rim is a great location for early evening and sunsets. Note: A trip from the south rim to the north rim is about 200 miles.

when are you going? I just got back from the north rim, bryce, zion, mesa verde, monument valley and all over.

I used a tripod with my 17-40 for about 250 pictures and my 70-200 for maybe 10. A 10-20 or 12-24 would have been nice, but the 17-40 work perfectly with no regrets.

I shot mostly around 11am to 5pm in all those places just becuae that is how it worked out for me. Did a lot of bracketing and blended in photoshop, they came out vey nice.

Have fun

Good this week for a few days. Will be on the South Rim.

Wish I had bought the Canon 17-40L when I got the 17-35.

Any tips

Don't worry as the Tamron 17-35mm is an excellent lens. Try keeping the aperture around f/8 ~ f/13 for the sharpest results and use a tripod if you have one.
