the second shot has that old time color cast to it. Not sure how I feel about that.
Otherwise I think it's technically good.

Very nice on both of them... I'd like her face to be a little brighter in the first one imho, perhaps a bit of fill flash... very nice use of DOF in the second :)

I agree with that. I blew the exposure on the brighter one and couldn't decide if I thought that her skin tone was too blah in this one. I knew I'd get an opinion here :) Thanks.

Both are great. Love the old style too. The first one is a wall hanger with just a little cropping. Great work as always

Both excellent images. Being partial to closeups I really like #2. DOF is about ideal IMO. She is a pretty young lady. #2 seems to indicate an intense thought process going on behind those eyes.

# 1 is astounding, super sharp, wonderful pose, and the bokeh is artwork. I love the highlights in the background. I also like the way the tree branches turned a bluish hue. Sometimes a little CA is a good thing.

# 2 is a great pose and comp! The scan took alot out of it I bet.

Excellent work.

Thank you all for the feedback!

Dave,
She often has that look in her eyes. She is a pretty good artist for her age and it seems that she is always thinking about something not visible for the rest of us. Add that to the typical little girl air headedness and it gets pretty fun at our house when it's time to focus and get something done, like chores or homework...

Laura,
Portra 160 is a type of film. The picture was shot with a Bronica Etrs 75mm f/2.8

Rumrunner,

Thanks! the branches actually did have a blueish hue to them, but the 85mm does show some purple around the edges sometimes.

When I saw the word "Lexi" in the title I knew I would be in for a treat.

My SWAG (scientific wild-assed guess) on the first shot is the white and bright colors in her sweater confused the E-TTL metering enough to give you not quite enough fill. I've seen this sort of thing happen often enough. It's a fantastic shot but I think it needs to be brightened up a bit.

The second one is flippin' spectacular.

I wonder if she'll ever get tired of posing for you. I sure hope not!

The backlight killed it more than anything and I was just too lazy to take a proper reading so I bracketed a few shots. I either had too bright or not enough flash. I liked the pose with this one so I went with it.

She honestly rarely wants to "pose" for me but I just follow her around with the camera until she gives me a look :) Most of the time I just get her while she is doing whatever she is doing and she'll stop and take a break for a sec.

Thanks for the feedback!
