I would really like to get a fisheye for paintball photography. Can you guys please comment/add examples of fisheyes on a 20D. I want one with AF.

I found the following available:

Sigma Fisheye 15mm f/2.8 EX Diagonal Fisheye Autofocus Lens for Canon EOS
Sigma 8mm f/3.5 EX DG CIRC FISHEYE LNS f/CAN
Canon Fisheye EF 15mm f/2.8 Autofocus Lens

Please give me some insight on these lenses.

Thanks!

Please, call me Steve.

The Sigma 8mm will give you dark corners. I'm holding out for the Tokina 10-17mm fisheye...

The 15mm f/2.8 FE, will give you slight distortion, at least the Canon one will. I would figure the Sigma would be fairly similar.

The Sigma 8mm is nice. The 15mm ones arent fishy enough...

if you are going for WIDE angle. get a wide angle such as the 10-22 canon or 10-20 sigma. if you want a true fisheye effect you are going to want the circular fish like the sigma 8mm, which will give black corners (since on a fullframe camera it is a circle in the middle of the image), and if you crop them out will give a much more true fisheye look.

If you really want an AF fish for the 20D, I'd also recommend holding out for the upcomgin Toke 10-17. It'll be the first fish made for APS-C with 180 degrees diag. field of view.
8mm fishes will have lots of light fall off in the cornes so you have to crop the image to get rid of them. 15mm fish are not wider than ultrawide zooms on a crop sensor, so they are of limited use.

I have the Sigma 15mm Fisheye, and it would say it does a fairly good job. I don't use it much, but when I do it does the job.

I too agree, it's a nice shot of the cat with the sigma fish.
I'm mearly stating that a fish isn't fishy on a cropped lens, so you won't get any benefit/fishiness on a crop. Hence a zoom would be more convienient than a prime.

I wouldn't worry about vingnetting or resolution too much as most viewers will only care about the composition of the shot and the effect the lens produces when you use a special effects lens such as this. That said, it will all depend on the amount of desired effect. Maximum effect for each lens is only achieved with a full frame sensor or film and 8mm will have more effect than 15mm, etc.

Great shots are like great parking spaces... if you're not quick, it's gone!
