Yup. It was beautiful. I got this one with the 30D and Bigma at 500mm.
I was very happy, as this was my very first satisfactory attempt at a good moonshot.

Now something I wanted to ask back, was in regards to the night skies, a round moon like that, and clouds coming in and out of it. This was the case that night -just a few mins after the image- and I wanted to photograph it, the moon with the clouds around it. Had no success whatsoever, not even something I would dare post here. The moon gets too bright, before any of the clouds can be even subexposed enough to be seen.

My only alternative would be, to wait for a quarter crescent, a cloudy night, and then try, with a much lower signature of the moon's reflection. Or, in contrast, the same with the yellow moon just over the horizon.

Your comments are most welcome.

Cheers,

Yeah it's really tough to shoot clouds around the moon without blowing out the moon in the process. Just too much dynamic range.

This shot could benefit from some post-processing. It seems to have a bit of a greenish tint on my monitor. Bumping up the contrast and some serious sharpening could also do it a lot of good.

Thanks. As soon as I am done with paying projects, will sit down and start pp-ing the crap out of this photo. As you mentioned, the potential for improvement is definitely there.

Cheers,

That is one big ball of cheese! :) Did you try bracketing some exposures and then blending them together to get the clouds?
